Backpaingo.com is a site that sells a piece of home treatment equipment that supposedly provides continuous passive motion to the lower spine for the purpose of relaxing muscles and creating gentle, mechanical stimulation of the spinal joints and discs. It appears to be quite similar to what are called "intersegmental traction" tables that are used by many chiropractors and physical therapists. In my opinion and experience, such devices do feel good and are relaxing, but rarely provide lasting benefit for bulging or degenerated discs.

There is an opportunity for a 3 month trial, which then becomes a rent-to-own contract lasting approximately 3 years with a total purchase price of over $1700. I don't think that's a bad price for this type of equipment, but this is probably not a necessity for the vast majority of disc pain sufferers. Given that the vast majority of people with disc-related pain will be dramatically better or have completely recovered within 3 months regardless of treatment, it is a safe bet for the manufacturer of this machine that most people will feel better during the trial period and therefore will be inclined to purchase it, even if it really wasn't the primary reason for their recovery.

Even so, if you have not been able to get relief through other treatment methods, this machine may be worth a try - if you don't mind risking the cost of shipping (which would probably be at least a few hunderd dollars) to return the machine at the end of the trial if it doesn't help.

For most people with disc problems though, my recommendation is to pass on this item.
